Prism and the Work of Christ in Life
Quick history leading into the current purpose for this site:
Many years ago I had a fantastic opportunity to serve as the youth pastor at a growing church. As the youth ministry grew we chose a name for ourselves to provide an identity and a sense of belonging for our teens. The challenge was to create an identity that was centered in Christ and showed our purpose. We chose to become Prism Ministries.
The prism itself represents us. It can be all of us individually or each of us singularly, but it is through this prism that God chooses to work.
The shape of the prism (a triangle for those of us geometrically challenged) represents the Godhead – the Trinity. While we are the vessel through which the Light of the gospel is channeled to our fellow human beings we must remember that the power of the message and the ability to accomplish the task is completely and solely God’s.
The spectrum created by the refraction of light entering the prism is a visualization of Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 9:22: “… I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.” We can serve our God in many different ways; we can serve many different groups of people; we can choose many different means of ministry.
Finally, the single light source reminds us that while there may be many methods of service and sharing there is only one message and only one way through which we can be reconciled to God.
