Beginning the very day, even within the hour, of His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His followers. He appeared visibly and physically. Then He ascended to the right hand of the Father – again visibly, in front of hundreds of witnesses. He continued to show Himself, though, as recorded throughout the book of Acts and as Paul recounts in some of his letters.
But why? We know there were reasons. Jesus never did anything without a reason. So why did Jesus continue to appear after He rose from the dead?
This is our next study for the spring. We’re not just cataloging Jesus’ appearances and learning facts about where He showed up and what happened while He was there. We want to get an understanding of what Jesus was accomplishing. How did these interactions establish the church? How do these revelations impact us today?
We are going to be asking and answering these questions. Although Jesus no longer appears in person, these encounters are still important for us to grasp.
